Katy Perry Swarovski nails.

Hi! Hello! How are you?

I thought I would do a little nail tutorial type thing today. I've been inspired by a picture I saw a while ago of Katy Perry's nails.

Katy rocked these nails back in 2009 for the MTV EMAs in Berlin. Her look was created with Swarovski crystals, alot of them! My recreation will be a little less extravagant I'm afraid.

Here's my version of it. If I had more patience I would do all the nails, but for a first attempt, the ring finger nail will have to do!

For the silver, I used Barry M's foil effects in silver, duh. The gems are from a nail art set I got from Primark for £2. The set includes 2 nail art pens, black & white, and nail gems in silver and pink.

First, I put the gems into the lid of a small box. This was just to keep them all together and prevent a mess! I then painted each nail with one coat of the silver. Once this was dry, I applied a thick layer to the nail I was applying the effect to. I used tweezers to apply the gems to the damp nail. Some nail art kits, like the Andrea Fulerton nail studs, come with a dabber stick, perfect for times like this. Unfortunately, mine has gone walkies.

It took a while to get all the gems on but it was worth it in the end. I pressed the nails with my finger to make sure they were firmly stuck, then gave the other nails another coat and then a clear coat on all nails, including the blinged out one.

If you cant find the nail art set in your local Primark, I've seen nail art gems in Poundland. Also, eBay is a good place for nail art bits and bobs.

Let me know if you try this effect! See you again soon!

MUA Nail Constellation.

Good afternoon!!

If you're a regular reader you'll know I love anything nail polish and nail art related. So when I opened my stocking this Christmas, one stocking filler got me very excited!

The stocking in particular was a product by MUA (Make Up Academy) that I had my eye on for a while but never got round to purchasing. What I love about MUA is that their products are great quality and a low price! One of my favourites is their liquid eyeliner, which is just £1!

So anyway, the product that I'm raving about in this post is their Nail Constellation Effects, and the 'shade' I got was Gemini. The best way to describe this product is hundreds and thousands for your nails.

Here's how I got on with it...

For the base, I used Barry M shade number 334, Teal.

I then gave each nail a coat of Teal. When that was dry, the nail I decided to put the effect on was given a thick coat of Teal. For the application, I used a tip my friend suggested, which is to pour some of the beads (as I will refer to them as) into an egg cup, and press the damp nail into the beads.

Admittedly, this is the second time I have used these effects, and last time I poured the effect on and tried to pour the extra back in, making a total mess. This way worked alot better for me.

With my finger, I pressed the beads firmly into place, and waited for it to dry. This was a good opportunity to give my other nails another coat. When everything was dry, I brushed away any extra beads and was left with a neater nail. When I used these the first time, I put a clear coat over the beads, which made the colour fade abit. I know other people who have done the same thing and had no problems so it may just be my clear coat, and my poo luck!

Here's the final result!

I can't rave about this product enough! Come payday, I'm treating my self to some of the other colours in the range, and some other MUA products! If you're looking to buy these or anything else from MUA, they're available in Superdrug, or on their website.

So, that's all for now folks! I hope you enjoyed this post. If you've used this product, let me know how you got on!

See you soon!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Merry Christmas! Sorry I haven't blogged in forever! I know I say it every time but I've been a super busy bee. Working in retail at Christmas takes up a lot of time, and when I'm not working I've been wrapping and what not, and when all that is done I'm too pooped to do anything else. But I'm here now, so it's all good.

I hope you're all happy and healthy and not suffering to much from all the Christmas eating and drinking! I don't know about you but I'm pretty sure I have enough chocolate and sweets to last me until Easter!

I don't really have a plan for this entry except it being all christmassy so I thought I'd share some pictures I posted on instagram and other snaps I took.

 1. My wrapping skills. 2. Our tree and my favourite decorations.
3. All of the presents! 4. My favourite stocking filler.
5. Personalised cracker! 6. Christmas dinner!!

One of my favourite parts of Christmas, after family time, is presents. I love giving presents, knowing the effort and thought I've put into a gift and seeing the look on the persons face when they open it. I also love receiving presents, and this year I was thoroughly spoilt, especially by my boyfriend! I love every single one of my gifts, so anyone who gave me a gift, THANK YOU!

One of my favourite gifts is one that my boyfriend gave me. It's part of the Fearne Cotton range at boots, a range which I'm a little in love with! I got the 'Fearne's Favourite Hatbox' and it's full of delicious smelling goodies!

If you're a regular reader of my blog then you'll know I'm a keen fan of nail art, so I figured I'd get all festive and decorate my nails to suit the occasion.

That's all for now! I swear I'm going to get back into regular blogging. I'll have a sort out and post a haul post of my sale finds, and I'll have a go at reviewing some products. I also have some new nail art treats, so I might do some nail tutorials. If you have any ideas, leave them in a comment!

Thanks for reading! Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!!

What I've been buying.

Okay, okay! I'm sorry I haven't blogged properly in FOREVER but i have a good excuse! As I stated in my short but sweet last entry, my laptop charger broke. I thought I could nip to mother's and use hers but I never really got the chance. But, all is well again and my laptop is back up and running!

Since my last post, I've been a busy bee. There was a few work nights out for leaving do's and birthday drinks, and I've been spending time with my new boyfriend :) as well as doing the usual shopping. I thought I would share with you a few items I found.

My shopping spree's wouldn't be complete without a stop at Primark, and here are the gems I picked up there this time.
Both these bags were £6 (i think). The green one on the left I had seen in there a while ago, and then saw it in Look magazine so felt like I had to get it then! The one on the right is my current favourite clutch. It's not secret that I like spikes and studs so when I saw this, which is a good size, I couldn't buy it quick enough.

This blouse was £12, and has small spike detailing on the collar. I'm a little bit in love with it to be honest, but haven't had the chance to wear it yet!

Anyone who knows me will know I like shoes, and of course, my collection got a little bit bigger this past month.

These were from Peacocks and cost £22.

These were from Office and cost £30.

And, for anyone who's here for my nail art

That's all for now. I'm sorry it wasn't very brilliant, but I have some exciting things coming up.
Thanks for reading, see you again soon

Studs & stuff!

Hello! It's been a whole 10 days since my last post, oops! I was actually waiting for something I bought to arrive in the post until so I could blog about how excited I was, but it's not here yet so I guess I can't blog about it yet. But here I am posting yet another full of nonsense blog entry for you lovely people! I'm not sure if people are actually reading these entries, or just looking at pictures or what. It'd be nice to get some sign that people are paying attention to my ramblings.

So, since my last entry, I received a lovely letter from Mr Taxman, telling me I had paid too much tax, £716 too much to be exact. So as you can imagine, I was rather happy! This money paid for the exciting purchase that I'm still waiting for. Not all of it though, which left me some to treat myself with. I went on a bit of a crazy shoe buying frenzy, which resulted in buying 7 pairs within one hour. I justify this by telling myself 5 pairs were from Primark and are basically all black pumps for work. Not terribly exciting but still, shoes! The few exciting pairs I bought are...

These are from Topshop and were £25. I love them purely for the spike studs!

This is the other exciting pair I bought. They're from Internacionale and we're £19.99 but I had a 20% voucher. I'm wearing them with Primark leggings, a Primark vest and Peacocks blouse.

In other news, I dyed my hair! Not the whole head, just the ends. Before I started regularly blogging, I had dyed all my hair pastel pink, and loved it. Recently, I've been missing it, but didn't dare do the whole head again, so just went with the tips. Annoyingly, no camera shows how bright it is, but this is the best I could come up with.

I also recently started fake tanning. I've never really done it before, not regularly, just the occasional night out. I'm actually in love with it! I have always been a shade of Edward Cullen and if I try to tan in the sun I end up a shade of Mr Krab off of Spongebob. And with full time work, I've not had the time to lay in the sun anyway, especially when the weather is only nice when I'm stuck at work!

I think that's everything from my un-exciting week or so. I can't help thinking I'm missing something but oh well! Here's a few Instagram photos. If you have Instagram, follow me @VivDFeatures.

my new phone case (i shall give more details soon!) / my new lamp! tkmaxx! so alice in wonderland!

nail art using barry m coral and andrea fullerton nail studs / my amazing £20 charity shop mirror! in love!

i'll be honest, i love a bit of the biebs. his new album is actually amazing and this song is tdf!

That's all for now! Thanks for reading! Leave comments and subscribe if you like it! See you soon!

This & that.

Greetings!

I have no witty opening as usual so I'm going to dive straight in with the usual ramblings.

Since my last entry, the Queen celebrated her Diamond Jubilee and to celebrate I got arty with my nail polishes again and came up with this.
I used Barry M polishes Cobalt Blue, Bright Red & Matt White and the red & white pens from my Rio nail art set.

Since my last post I've also done a little more retail therapy that was much needed! And thanks to a store card it hasn't me anything yet! I bought these two pairs of shoes. They're the same but different colours. I bought the black pair first and wore them out and as far as heels go, they're pretty comfy, so I bought the nude pair too! They were £24.99 each.

I also treated myself to some new jewellery. New Look's own brand items were BOGOF so I thought, why not?
Skull earrings: £4
Multipack earrings: £4.99
Daisy earrings: £2.50
Bracelet: £5.50

I work for a football club and we just had a party to celebrate the end of the season, and here's what I wore.
Dress: Internacionale
Blazer: New Look
Shoes: New Look

Was a pretty big thing for me to wear a dress and almost bare legs. Thank goodness for sheer tights!

One more thing! I treated myself to ANOTHER nail polish, this time, a bargain one! This was from Poundland and of course cost me just £1. I love glitter nail polishes and a good bargain so this was a great find! It's a brand called Chit Chat and the shade is Rio.

And here's a few Instagram snaps! Follow me @ VivDFeatures
my nail polish collection / my katy perry inspired gingerbread person.

a few of my favourite things.

despicable me minion nails!

That's all for now! Thanks for reading, follow if you like it!
